Streetwork Australia Ltd (Streetwork) – as Lead Agency for delivery of the Change Your Course Program - respects your individual privacy. This Privacy Policy (‘Policy’) embodies our commitment to its protection through adherence to fair electronic information practices. This Policy puts you, the individual, in control of how your personal information is processed. You have our commitment that we will not electronically process your personal information in any way that is incompatible with this Policy. This Privacy Policy protects your privacy by informing you about:

  • The types of personal information Streetwork collects about you through the Youth Care Navigator platform
  • How it collects that information
  • The general purposes for which it collects such information

 

Streetwork Assures You That It…

Takes reasonable precautions to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. Implements reasonable policies and procedures to ensure that personal information is kept only for the purposes for which it has been gathered; Uses reasonable measures to ensure that we have accurately and completely recorded the personal information you have provided; Will provide you with reasonable access to your personal information as well as procedures for correcting or modifying that information where appropriate. Ensuring accountability to individuals who believe that Streetwork has not complied with these privacy principles.

 

Getting To Know Our Vulnerable Young People

Streetwork provides early intervention and prevention services to vulnerable young people.  That means that we need to understand our program partipant’s circumstances and needs.

We get to know young people primarily through the information that is provided to us via other youth service providers and referral partners, which may include parents, carers and guardians.  The information provided ranges from basic contact information, to sensitive data and payment information (for service providers). All of the information we request is a requirement of effective service delivery.  When you enter the Change Your Course program, you agree to provide us with complete and current information.

For Change Your Course - Service Providers - we may communicate with you about your account, and ask questions about the service you’re providing to program participants.

For Young People, we may contact you so that you can give us helpful insights about yourself, your preferences, and the ways in which we might improve our service(s) to you. We may retain your information for future use by Streetwork and the Change Your Course Service Partners. 

For referral partners which may include parents, carers and guardians, we may contact you so that you can give us helpful insights about the young person you are referring so that we can improve our service.  We may maintain the information you provided for future use by Streetwork and the Change Your Course Service Partners. 

The information we receive from or about you is stored on systems designed to prevent the loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction of that information. We also encrypt your transmission of sensitive information to us (e.g account passwords) in the interest of heightened privacy protection and information integrity.

 

Third-Party Advertising And Cookies

We use links to some of our suppliers on our website. In the course of providing these links, some of these companies may place or recognise a unique ‘cookie’ on your browser and may use information (not including your name, address, e-mail address, or telephone number) about your visits to their and other web sites in order to measure advertising effectiveness and to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. Please also examine the Privacy Policies of these companies.

 

Information Corrections Or Changes

You have the ability to correct or change certain information in our records, such as your address and contact information. You may change this information at any time and as often as necessary. How We Put Information To Good Use

We use any information about you for purposes of monitoring and improving The Change Your Course service and internal operations.  For service providers we also use the information to ensure we bill you properly, administer your account in accordance with good and proper accounting practices. 

We also use the information we collect to monitor and improve our internal operations For example; we may correlate Web site traffic information with data about individual users. This data helps us to determine how much our customers use parts of the site, allowing us to enhance it to fit the needs of as many of our customers as possible. We may also break down overall usage statistics according to customers’ domain names, browser types, and MIME types by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user’s browser).

Another example of our use of information to enhance the experience of users in our website is our reliance on cookie files. We use cookie files to make it easier for users to access our site or services. A cookie file is a small data file that certain Web sites write to your hard drive when you visit them. A cookie file can contain information such as a user ID that the site uses to track the pages you have visited. However, the only personal information a cookie can contain is information you supply yourself. A cookie cannot read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. We use cookies to track user traffic patterns (as described above) when you visit the Youth Care Navigator site.  When you register, we may use a cookie to store a unique, random user ID. We use this ID to identify you anonymously in our database and to track the pages you visit on our site. If you have set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies, you will receive the warning message with each cookie. You may refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser.

Finally, we may use the information we collect to direct important notices and information about the Change Your Course program, that may be of interest to you, including newsletters, surveys, and updated information about our Change Your Course Program or the Youth Care Navigator system. You may opt-out of receiving information from us simply by notifying us of your desire in an email to information@streetwork.org.au.  Please use Change Your Course opt-out in the subject line.  Note, however, that in order to fulfil our service obligations to you, we must continue sending you notices and other important information affecting your Youth Care Navigator Service account or the Change Your Course Program. 

 

Do we share data?

We value you as a referrer (which may include parents, carers and guardians), course participant and youth service provider.  We do not share or disclose any information about our course participants to any external company or organisation that is not directly providing service to an individual program participant. The information that you supply to us is used only to inform the service providers allocated to a young person’s custom designed program.  No information collected by Streetwork is sold or given to any other organisation.

 

Our Accountability To You

By referring a young person to the Change Your Course Program via Youth Care Navigator or by entering your data as a service provider on Youth Care Navigator, you obtain the protections of, and consent to the data processing practices described in this Privacy Policy. When you access our services, you also represent to us that you have provided notice to, and obtained consent from, the young person or parent/guardian (if the young person is 16 years or younger) for the personal and sensitive data you supply to us with regard to:

 

  • The purposes for which the personal and sensitive data have been collected
  • The intended recipients or categories of recipients of the data
  • Which of the personal and sensitive data is obligatory and which data, if any, are voluntary, and
  • How the young person or their parent/guidian can access and, if necessary, rectify the data held about them

 

In addition to the privacy protections that we provide, our employees, agents and business partners are independently responsible for ensuring compliance with this Privacy Policy, as described below.

 

Employee Accountability

Only those Streetwork employees that have a legitimate service or business purpose for accessing and handling information obtained by us are given the authorisation to do so. The unauthorised access or use of such information by a Streetwork or Youth Care Navigator user is prohibited and constitutes grounds for disciplinary action. Additionally, our information management systems are configured in such a way as to block or inhibit employees from accessing information that they have no authority to access.

 

Security

The Youth Care Navigator site takes every precaution to protect the information of our users’ and program participant’s.  When users submit sensitive information via the Youth Care Navigator, their information is protected both online and offline. When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information it is encrypted and protected in transit with TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption and at rest with AES-256 encryption.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, users’ information is restricted in our offices and is only accessible by certain authorised staff. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Every quarter, as well as any time new policies are added, employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our customers’ information is protected.

 

Changes To This Policy

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.
